Think i will give up hunting

think maybe i should give up hunting, even though it is the only thing i find pleasure and joy in. it seems like each time i go a argument starts and wind up not having any relaxing or enjoyable time. i do not care if all i kill is time but it is me time that everyone needs. just my random thoughts today

Merry Christmas and such

Hope everyone had a great Christmas or what ever you celebrate this time of year. Went out today and sighted in my AR 15 in .223 and plan on taken it on my next hunt. Not sure when I will go or even where, as it seems that we have chased the hogs off the one farm I have been hunting. Oh well looks like I will have to move to the other farm.

On a different note today is the start of Dove season and plan on spending a day or three dove hunting. Will post photos of anything I get, to include the deer I have to get for a family near me.

Think I should stay with hog hunting

Today made the second day that i went either squirrel hunting or deer hunting and did not see a thing. Beginning to think i should stick with hog hunting as i do a little better at that.

Just an Update

Just thought I would post an update. Have not had the chance to go back out hunting since last trip but hopefully either Saturday or next week. have had another roast and some sausage from the boar and he still tastes good. For those that are interested here is how I fix it:

Boar Shoulder Roast.

in a crock pot combine:
2-3 good size onions
4 cloves of garlic
1 1/2 teaspoon of Basil, oregano, sage, time and rosemary
a dash of salt and pepper
1 large box of Swans Chicken or beef broth (personally i like the chicken one better)
1 package of Lipton onion soup mix (poured on top of roast)

lift some of the onions out of broth and place on top of roast. cover and let cook on high for 3 to 4 hours. turn the roast over once and layer onions on top again. finish cooking until meat thermometer reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

after roast is done slice and serve. you can then make a soup out of the broth by adding some rice, peas, and carrots. adding a little flour helps to thicken up the soup.

Well that is how I do it, hope you all enjoy and will let you know when I get more.

Pig hunting in Culpeper County

I have found a new hunt that I am really getting in to, Feral Pig hunting. On 11/17/07 i got my first pig at a little over 200 yards. The pig was a boar and dressed out at around 250 pounds. After finding a person to butcher him for me, I ended up with around 190 pounds of meat. On 12/01/07 I went back to the same location and ended up shooting two sows with one at 100 lbs and the other at 75 pounds dressed out. My neighbor helped me cape these two out and he is going to process them for his freezer.

I have had a couple of good meals off of the boar to include:

breakfast sasauge

Ham Steaks

Shoulder roast

and tomorrow night Pork Chops.
Well will update when I get something else.
